Immediately after pruning while the rose has no leaves, spray roses with Lime Sulphur. This will clean up any fungal disease, scale and mites. 

Two weeks later at the first sign of spring growth spray with a mix of copper and oil for the control of pests. The oil helps the copper to stick to the rose and the copper can help protect new growth from frosts in late spring.
